  • Diabetes

    If you didn’t already, I’m type 1 diabetic. This means my body doesn’t produce insulin. Insulin is a hormone which takes sugar out of your blood & turns it into Emery.

    There are 2 types of diabetes, very creatively named; type 1(you tend to develop it as a child,& are born with a high chance of developing it) & type 2(you develop it in later life, because you’ve overworked your pancreas in your younger years).

    Im not in America, but in the US population overall, they established for 2018 there was: 34.2 million people of all ages—or 10.5% of the US population who had some form of diabetes.

    So I have to balance my foot intake with my insulin (which I inject)

    If you exercise, it effects your BG (blood glucose) because it uses up energy. My diabetes determines the ratio of how much insulin I need for what foods & drink, & when.

    diabetics are hyper sensitive about their BG. It’s common, you probably know one.

    As there’s such a big proportion of diabetics, I will share in future posts some diabetic friendly recipes which I like, that are good even if you’re not diabetic.

  • 19/6 – Synesthesia

    Synesthesia is when you replace one sense with another one. A great example is smelling colours or hearing perfume, more than just the sound of the scoosh though. It’s very difficult to get your head around, but I watched a great episode which will help demonstrate my point, it does take some effort on your part but it’s worth it. I’ll give you the series, you just have to find the episode. You will like this series;

    https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/81139212?s=i&trkid=13747225&vlang=en&clip=81456294

    The series is called Human, the world within. It is on Netflix! The episode I was inspired by & would recommend is season 1 episode 5.

    Among other things, it really does make you think “what’s an ability, & what is a disability?”

    It talks about this girl who’s passion is music, but she’s deaf. So she literally feels that music. She perceives the rhythm through the vibrations created by the sound.

    The word i a mix ,”Syn esthesia” is from Greek words: “synth” , meaning “together” and “ethesia” “perception” meaning perception.

  • Facts

    I learned a few things that surprised me; 99 years ago on the 11th January 1922 the first dose of insulin was administered! & 48% of adult have some form of diabetes, undiagnosed!

    I had no idea diabetes was so common! @ least I’m not alone (at all!)
