  • Cooperative Overlapping

A beautiful, more diplomatic way of saying “interesting”.

Where speakers talk over each other, expressing enthusiasm, agreement, or engagement, but with time. This shows more cooperation is involved.

It often occurs when someone speaks while another is talking, to encourage or support their point.

This style stems from the belief that extended pauses can feel uncomfortable, a big problem during “text chats”…. Possibly why waiting for the double tick is so excruciating. While cooperative overlapping can create a lively and dynamic exchange, i see it as greatly detrimental on the context, the relationship between speakers, and cultural norms; in some settings, the same behavior might be seen as impolite.
