I have been watching this great program on BBC iPlayer called “Chris Packham’s animal einsteins“. It’s about how animals use, how they move in different ways, for different reasons.
It then touches on when animals migrate & why that suits them best. It injects some scientific details.
It explores fish, amphibians, stomatopods (briefly talks about the mantis shrimp, mented in David Attenborough’s “life in colour”, which I recommend), birds & insects.
Just an example; I never knew spiders could fly by using static electricity.
Scientists use the information they’ve learnt from how animals move, can predict our own movement, with the help of technology.
This series proposes how animals build, communicate & cooperate, based on how & why animals move.
It finishes with how animal brains of the natural world are far brighter, more sophisticated & flexible than we could ever have imagined.
