  • Le Labo

For those who don’t already know this brand, “Le Labo” is a perfumerie, which seems to be at the epitome of its trade.

Owned by #estéelauder, the owner has built up #lelabo, to become rather global…. But few know about it. Do you?

No real marketing or PR, their brand theme is vivid, simplistic but not in a modern, “fine art” way.

With lab-based branding combining perfume with science, it really does turn art into science.

  • Smell

    Smell is certainly an interesting sense. It is the one that has such a visceral link to one’s memory. A single scent can really transport you to the last time you smelled it, or a flavour you like, or even entice a certain emotion. From this subjective view of the sense of smell, I’d like to promote this company;

There is definitely a scope for tailored perfume making.

In the brain the part which links to the sense of smell is called the olfactory bulb. The nose (where you grasp the scent) is directly underneath & linked to the brain. So the sense of smell can really evoke emotions in you.

  • Epiphany

Today I had some very random things that reminded me of my past life.

Things like the smell of my old favourite perfume, a film which very randomly inspired a memory of some friend that I had in my past life, a certain recipe which my mum used to make (prawns & mango sauce), some song lyrics & my old favourite book, which I’ve already mentioned but I’m rediscovering it now.

  • Meet the Old/New Leuty

There are a lot of things I have noticed that the new Leuty likes which I imagine the old Leuty liked I kind of think that is what the “original” Leuty like. Things that are quite multisensory like certain perfumes, food, music, films & programs. There are things that I know that the “old Leuty” liked which I expect the “original Leuty” will too. Just trying to submerge myself in these things.

So in attempt to advertise & I hope you’ll try them too, here’s a multisensory experience of what I’m trying to immerse myself in, attempting to get the original Leuty back.

I really like interesting perfumes, an example which comes to mind for something quite avant- guard is gengermbre by
Diptyque, & acqua di parma. But the original Leuty skills like Prada Amber Eau de Parfum. An additional note, the sense no of smell is directly linked to your memory. This part of the brain is called olfactory senses, your nose is just below your brain.

Right now I really like seafood, particularly shellfish. I’ve always had a penchant for coffee, I’m addicted to my Nespresso machine.

I currently like a bunch of genres music wise. I tend to stay away from rap & hiphop, for no particular reason I do like the planets suit by Gustav Holst & the strokes, born ruffians & kygo. So a big range, you should check them out & see if we’d get along.

For films I have kept a lot of my old DVDs, CDs & books so I guess I can re-discover them. I’ve already mentioned that I fall in love with certain films, books & music. I hate to jump on the bandwagon but I find myself paying a lot of attention to Netflix right now.

I have always wanted the Simpson’s on channel 4 at 6pm, & that I have taken from childhood as a routine. More recently I’ve lived things that seem to reach me, things like QI, documentaries, David Attenborough, Louis Thorough , the list goes on & on.
