    From my previous role as a fashion developer, I’m accustomed to evaluating garments and their properties through a cost-focused lens.

    With whole industries focusing on how to price the end product is a very important issue. What I had to do was build tech packs for manufacturers with the Mr fabrics or findings being called “tech packs”.

    However, the true value of a product can extend far beyond the item itself. In the industry I worked in, and within my role, the focus was firmly on the end product—yet my recent purchase of @ChristianLouboutin shoes, which I’ve written about time and time again, really clarified for me how value can be perceived in a completely different way.

    They paired effortlessly with my wardrobe and were incredibly easy to wear, everything you’d expect from a luxury trainer. However, considering they’re from @ChristianLouboutin, the quality has been a real disappointment.

    After less than a year, they’re already falling apart, a clear sign of poor craftsmanship. For a brand positioned at such a high level, and with a price tag that felt almost painful to justify, the reality simply hasn’t lived up to the expectation.

    However, a new, less superficial sense of value emerges here. Beyond simply being expensive, the pleasure and satisfaction of owning a pair of those iconic red soled trainers was incomparable far outweighing the initial pain of the purchase.

    Taking both perspectives into account, I’d say the overall value ultimately balances out….

  • Louboutin complaint… again

    This time has come by again and again the trainers that I loved so much that I spend a ludacris amount of moneyon, continues to integrate. For a high price one he doesn’t expect such poor quality. I would really expect the development for such a premium product to be a higher standard.

  • Because AI is so woke right now

    You’ve likely noticed I’ve shared plenty of posts about AI, it’s a key part of my niche, blending fashion with technology alongside content on health maintenance (diabetes and TBI). This post continues that focus, while also keeping readers up to date with developments from a more professional perspective.

    Speculation has increasingly shaped global markets since the 1980s, as investors discovered that hype can generate greater returns than underlying business performance. This dynamic fuelled a series of boom-and-bust cycles — from the dot-com era to cryptocurrencies, NFTs and now AI — with AI investment currently driving much of the recent growth in the S&P 500. Yet, like previous speculative waves, signs suggest the AI surge may also be vulnerable to correction, even as investors begin searching for the next trend to replace it.

  • Cinderella Explained

    I assume most people know Cinderella…

    A story about a girl ground down by neglect and cruelty who gets one brief night of escape, glitter, and possibility.

    She steps out of the ashes and into candlelight, into music, into being seen. Then midnight comes. The carriage splinters back into a pumpkin, the silk collapses into rags, and the illusion dies.

    All that remains on the cold palace floor is a single glass slipper, fragile, sharp, but unmistakably real.

    It is not costume or disguise, but proof. The slipper holds the shape of her foot like memory holds the shape of truth. It cannot belong to anyone else.

    Everything borrowed disappears, but identity does not. The world can take the magic, the beauty, the moment. But it cannot erase the fit of who she is.

  • Disappointment

    If you’ve read some of my more recent posts—“I’m an Unexpected Target Market” in particular—you’ll already understand the depth of my (admittedly embarrassing, yet entirely sincere) adoration for my Christian Louboutin trainers. Which is precisely why this experience has been such a let-down.

    This brand has a long-established reputation for producing premium footwear, particularly high heels. However, its experience with my trainers is comparatively limited.

    Given the lengths I went to to acquire these trainers, beautiful! Comfortable, and carrying an admittedly embarrassing price tag tthey once held a shining place in my heart.

    I am writing this after noticing a few months after purchase, that several details had begun to deteriorate! This is something clearly documented in the accompanying photographs. There is visible scratching to the leather at the toe, exposing the white exterior and revealing the red mid-layer beneath.

    Additionally, the red design elements appear to be wearing away, and the Louboutin logo has already begun to peel off.

    At this price point, this level of deterioration is not something one would expect from the Christian Louboutin brand, given the reputation it has built. Having worked in women’s wear garment design, I am well aware of the extensive development, testing, and refinement that should underpin products positioned at this level. In this case, however, the development of these footwear pieces appears to fall short of that standard.

    From a place of genuine adoration, I have arrived at deep disappointment—and, frankly, a degree of embarrassment. Having parted with such a substantial sum for a product that now appears faulty, I feel misled rather than indulged. On this basis, I would strongly caution others against purchasing this product from the brand.

  • Im An Unexpected Target Market ….Christian Louboutin

    …. Loving my red solled shoes.

    I bought a pair of Christian Louboutin trainers. I’m a global size 6, but the only pair in store was a size 5. I wanted them so badly that I convinced myself they fit and bought them anyway.

    Until they didn’t. So my mission of stretching them began.

    Stage 1: Thick socks on, my pride is totally swallowed. I’m shuffling around the house in shoes that are too small — and looking extra foolish, given I’ve only just started walking again. The things we do for love… and good footwear.

    Step 2: I should’ve gone to a cobbler first, but being cheap, I tried other methods. When I finally took them in, they could only stretch the shoes half a size — but for a good price, so I agreed. When I picked them up, they already felt more wearable.

    Step 3: When I picked them up, I also bought a stretch spray out of pure paranoia. Now, every time I wear them, I give them a quick spritz.

    Step 4: With full commitment, wear them nonstop around the house, on short walks, whenever I can. Slowly, they’ve eased up and stretched just enough to be wearable. Amazing what a bit of persistence can do.

    Step 5: Look fabulous, curating the perfect outfit straight from my wardrobe.

    And after a while, they stopp being excruciating. I used plasters at first, but now they’ve stretched enough. That’s the power of love, determination, pride, and branding. The perfect smart-casual, comfortable, and well loved.

    …recognisable only to the fashion-minded who catch the nuance.

    (Tip: just get the correct size in the first place.)

  • Jimmy Choo

    Go big, or go home. Splashing out on a pair of premium, fabulous shoes makes you paranoid to to damage them.

    When you’re learning to walk, you’re likely to damage them.

    So my thoughts are, investing in a pair of Jimmy Choo FLAT pumps has exponentially improved my walking.

    Well worth investing in my wellbeing; probably not the main intention behind this design.

    The original #shoelover is back

    With brand new #JimmyChop flat shoes, which I can actually walk in (after RELEARNING HOW TO WALK) after TBI left me utterly physically impaired, buying into Tthis brand has made me feel me “me”. More confident.

  • Eulogy

    The fact we are all here at this event reflects who we lost especially for myself and my siblings.

    trying to pacify this pain is useless, but really, anne, my mum, wouldn’t want her passing to instigate misery.

    we may have lost an amazing woman, but my god, what we gained from knowing her highly offsets what we lost. being an utter inspiration, coming from humble beginnings, she went on to qualify as a dentist at Edinburgh university, and after working in that profession, went on to start her own practise.

    her biggest achievement was… well you’re looking at one of them, along with my brother and sister, and, of course, how she made all of you had a lasting impression of her.

    let her achievements inspire you to make your own ones, too.

     and in a way, she lives on through my siblings and i, in the fact we have her blood in our veins, but also, i think we portray attributes of her personality because she was a fabulous mother.

    and in her memory, i aim, and probably these two  to embrace these attributes, and as she probably made you all feel like her family, welcome to the clan.

  • Stilettos

    The “stiletto” derives its name from an Italian dagger.  With the acclaim of being an extremely narrow heel, stilettos were initially a type of slender-bladed dagger, generally used in Italy. 

    The 20th century came and it’s not really known how the name became the type of shoe it is today. Popularity grew, being set off by Roger Vivier from the House of Dior in 1950s. 

    The thickness of the heel provides extra difficulty for the designer, as it provides less support for the wearer’s weight.
