  • Lola, lalalala Lolas

    Released by The Kinks in 1970, this song is clearly about a trans person (if you listen closely to the lyrics) though that wasn’t what stirred controversy at the time.

    To his surprise, the song tells the story of a man’s encounter with a “woman” who is later revealed to be a transvestite.

    However, it wasn’t this theme that caused controversy. The BBC objected to the mention of “Coca-Cola,” claiming it violated advertising regulations, infringed on intellectual property rights, and constituted product placement.

  • Epiphany

    Today I had some very random things that reminded me of my past life.

    Things like the smell of my old favourite perfume, a film which very randomly inspired a memory of some friend that I had in my past life, a certain recipe which my mum used to make (prawns & mango sauce), some song lyrics & my old favourite book, which I’ve already mentioned but I’m rediscovering it now.

  • 20/4- Audio

    For someone who has nothing to do with an audio field, I have a very audio brain…

    2 examples are that is 1) I’m very good at remembering lyrics, probably things I liked in my old life, & 2) I use very audio language in very day-to-day things, for example “the crab smells loud”.

    I’ve never been very much liked any particular music but I do tend to like music that is meant to feed my brain, just an example is classical music or even jazz, or reggae. The two last ones have heavy influence of cultural, definitely.

  • 6/3/2021 – Music #2

    Yesterday I heard some rap music which made me really appreciate rap. It really was poetry with music.

    The Balinese really do favour the creative jobs. The musicians & artists (of which I don’t even mention) are really praised. Their culture really revolves around religion.

    Still on the subject of music, but a very different type is that I watched a David Attenborough episode which is called “the Miracle of Bali” & the episode is “the Midday Sun”.

    Because they sit opposite each other they literally play it backwards.

    Very much different from our culture where money is at the centre of everything we do.

    Forgot the pun but watching this really made me see art in a different way.

    The monks are sitting opposite each other with the musical instruments like a xylophone
