Otherwise known as the vertebral column, this protects the spine. In particular, the cord that goes through the middle of the spine. This intervertebral disc is sandwiched between each vertebra & has a gelatinous part known as the “nucleus pulposus”. The nucleus pulposus has a cushioning effect for the spine
