I know I said I wouldn’t tell my bad news, but there’s so little known about Covid, any information maybe helpful.
My bad news was… I had Covid.
I’d like to share is information about how diabetes is effected by the virus. Cause I think all diabetics know that if you’re ill, it affects your blood sugar.
I had no symptoms at all, I just got a positive lateral flow test. It pushed my blood sugar very high, around 21. To medicate it I was told to drink some water.
That is what I’m always advise to do with a high BG (when I know what I really need is insulin) “drink some water”. The best analogy is when your computer isn’t working, the first thing they tell you is “have you turned it off, & on again?”
After about 3 hours & ample attacks of anxiety, I was FINALLY given some novorapis.
So for any other diabetics or family members of diabetics, Covid makes your blood sugar act very irrational.
I have a Freestyle Libre, so I was keeping a close eye on how my blood sugar was reacting.
