  • Value

From my previous role as a fashion developer, I’m accustomed to evaluating garments and their properties through a cost-focused lens.

With whole industries focusing on how to price the end product is a very important issue. What I had to do was build tech packs for manufacturers with the Mr fabrics or findings being called “tech packs”.

However, the true value of a product can extend far beyond the item itself. In the industry I worked in, and within my role, the focus was firmly on the end product—yet my recent purchase of @ChristianLouboutin shoes, which I’ve written about time and time again, really clarified for me how value can be perceived in a completely different way.

They paired effortlessly with my wardrobe and were incredibly easy to wear, everything you’d expect from a luxury trainer. However, considering they’re from @ChristianLouboutin, the quality has been a real disappointment.

After less than a year, they’re already falling apart, a clear sign of poor craftsmanship. For a brand positioned at such a high level, and with a price tag that felt almost painful to justify, the reality simply hasn’t lived up to the expectation.

However, a new, less superficial sense of value emerges here. Beyond simply being expensive, the pleasure and satisfaction of owning a pair of those iconic red soled trainers was incomparable far outweighing the initial pain of the purchase.

Taking both perspectives into account, I’d say the overall value ultimately balances out….

  • L’Oréal x IBM

    L’oreal = cosmetics.

Many businesses, obviously , include an R&D department, and for cosmetics, this includes scientists, skincare, makeup, haircare and packaging, all glued together with the development department. This is only in the HQ, though, manufacturing takes what has been from the HQ.

What makes any company in a predictive industry (fashion) , is having to understand what’ll be the trend, tomorrow. This prediction will instigate development, therefore the presumption must be well backed up.

Where L’Oréal meets IBM is through their exploration in technology.

L’Oréal products can be seen, without psychically pulling it on, L’Oréal call it “virtual beauty” L’Oréal creates “beauty experiences”, which is why traditional UX can be explored so viscerally.

With this R&D collection and experimentation gives a HUGE amount of data.

With this raw materials will be chosen , what combination are decided and how much.

Safety, performance, quality, compliance and sustainability… and the rest. All this development would take forever!

But what if… this process could be done digitally. Like L’Oréal’s earlier stages… “virtual beauty”.

… where IBM comes in… using a custom AI model can help organised and conjoin those results. Where computers collaborate with the human designers, to enhance their work.

Ages of results found by experts can be analysed and assimilated using AI to predict what’ll be next.

In essence, the AI dies all the long, dirty work. It takes time results of what has been designed and experimented by the humans.

After so much testing and results being gathered, the data is “AI ready”. The predictions can tell what the next steps should be.

Get ready for the future move.

  • Jimmy Choo

Go big, or go home. Splashing out on a pair of premium, fabulous shoes makes you paranoid to to damage them.

When you’re learning to walk, you’re likely to damage them.

So my thoughts are, investing in a pair of Jimmy Choo FLAT pumps has exponentially improved my walking.

Well worth investing in my wellbeing; probably not the main intention behind this design.

  • Casual chic

    How I cheer myself up, I do it in style;

    #JimmyChoo shoes and dressing gown

I’m a strong believer in fashion psychology; if you look good, you feel good…

  • #JimmyChoo

After doing research on #JimmyChoo ‘’s #SWT (smart wearable technology) releases, this had no influence on what I just did….

    The original #shoelover is back

With brand new #JimmyChop flat shoes, which I can actually walk in (after RELEARNING HOW TO WALK) after TBI left me utterly physically impaired, buying into Tthis brand has made me feel me “me”. More confident.

  • Eulogy

The fact we are all here at this event reflects who we lost especially for myself and my siblings.

trying to pacify this pain is useless, but really, anne, my mum, wouldn’t want her passing to instigate misery.

we may have lost an amazing woman, but my god, what we gained from knowing her highly offsets what we lost. being an utter inspiration, coming from humble beginnings, she went on to qualify as a dentist at Edinburgh university, and after working in that profession, went on to start her own practise.

her biggest achievement was… well you’re looking at one of them, along with my brother and sister, and, of course, how she made all of you had a lasting impression of her.

let her achievements inspire you to make your own ones, too.

and in a way, she lives on through my siblings and i, in the fact we have her blood in our veins, but also, i think we portray attributes of her personality because she was a fabulous mother.

and in her memory, i aim, and probably these two  to embrace these attributes, and as she probably made you all feel like her family, welcome to the clan.

In these and a funeral appropriate black dress

  • Acetylcholine

For those who don’t know what acetylcholine (a chemical messenger)is, it sounds like it’s made up, it actually exists. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter.

It’s is at its highest in REM sleep (that is rapid eye movement) & just when you wake up.

Its function is that it helps your brain retain information when you’re awake. What it does is keep the information there.

It is known for problems with your brain like Alzheimer’s disease & Parkinson’s.

This chemical was the first neurotransmitter (messages to & from the brain to cells) discovered. So neurotransmitters

Imbalances in levels of acetylcholine play a role in some neurological conditions. People who have Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease tend to have low levels of acetylcholine.

There is no proven way to maintain ideal levels of acetylcholine and prevent neurological diseases. However, researchers are developing advanced treatments to help people with these health conditions live longer, healthier lives.

In this article, we look at how acetylcholine is linked with various health conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, myasthenia gravis, and Parkinson’s disease. We also discuss treatments for acetylcholine-related conditions.

You can do what I did & buy acetylcholine jewellery like I did from this awesome brand I love. It’s so Leuty.

  • Next

I got a birthday present which was muchly appreciated, for Next. I wanted to browse before I committed my voucher, but I could not use the website.

The online store was not easy to navigate at all. There was no ads, which was probably good because pop ups can be annoying, but ads are mostly where fashion gets its money from.

Just the bad experience of browsing online made me dislike the brand. I couldn’t navigate the website at all.

In a time which we are just coming out of (the pandemic) where all consumers are forced to buy their clothes online, the main focus should be on making the online store very desirable & easy to use.

It wasn’t at all easy to use & there was no attempt to make me want to buy anything.

Me being an ex-fashion designer I think my comments actually have some influence on the fashion world (who am I kidding, of course they don’t) but me as a consumer I have no desire to shop at Next, & I hope my readers don’t want to.

Spread the word about how bad this brand is.

  • James Jean for Prada

I don’t know how, but I remembered this collaboration & I got some pieces. It must have made a big impression on me; remembering it’s existence, the articles name & that I owned a pieces from the collection.
