    I got a birthday present which was muchly appreciated, for Next. I wanted to browse before I committed my voucher, but I could not use the website.

    The online store was not easy to navigate at all. There was no ads, which was probably good because pop ups can be annoying, but ads are mostly where fashion gets its money from.

    Just the bad experience of browsing online made me dislike the brand. I couldn’t navigate the website at all.

    In a time which we are just coming out of (the pandemic) where all consumers are forced to buy their clothes online, the main focus should be on making the online store very desirable & easy to use.

    It wasn’t at all easy to use & there was no attempt to make me want to buy anything.

    Me being an ex-fashion designer I think my comments actually have some influence on the fashion world (who am I kidding, of course they don’t) but me as a consumer I have no desire to shop at Next, & I hope my readers don’t want to.

    Spread the word about how bad this brand is.

  • Size 10

    For all those women ( most men won’t understand) in clothes I used to be a 6 or 8 (very skinny).

    I was in a coma for 10 months & pretty sedentary for a long time after that. So I gained a fair bit of weight.

    So now like pretty much every woman, I want to loose some weight.

    But there’s good news! The fashion industry seems to be following this trend in gaining weight. The models used to be paper thin, unhealthily so.

    But now plus size models are getting more work. Setting the way for the place size models, Levis has a “plan prize” range, where they use plus size models for their campaign.

    So fatter models seem to be en vogue. I, like most humans, have a strange relationship with my clothes. I have a lot of clothes I had when I was a size 6/8, & now I don’t fit.

    I found one pair of jeans which are pretty irreplaceable. They have my name embroidered up the side seam, but they’re too small for me. I do really love this garment.

    So I’ve partnered with someone who’s a tailor, who I knew in my past life. He’s letting them out, so they’ll fit me.

    I haven’t received them yet, but when I do, the pictures will follow.

    Just to justify the title, I went from an 6/8 to now a 10/12.

    I used to be super skinny, but I was in a coma for about 10 months and was pretty sedentary (learning how to walk again) and gained a bit of weight.

    I have some clothes from my past life which I’m very reluctant to throw away. We have a special relationship with each garment. For some garments we like because we did a certain thing whilst wearing, or we like certain aspects of the design.

    I kept this brilliant pair of jeans which were personalised with my name embroidered on the side seam. I love them & they’re irreplaceable, but they’re too small for me.

    What I did is spoke to my friend who’s a tailor. They’re being tailored to a bigger size , so they’ll fit me.

    Maybe there’s a business in this; people wanting clothes that they already have, but making them a bigger size.

    Being a wearable technology designer, I try to find a digital way to make your clothes. It does also help the attraction of “reusing” what you already have. An environmental aspect to this plan.

  • How to Walk

    My biggest ale at the moment is that I’m stuck in a wheelchair. I’m currently learning how to walk, which is very time consuming but it’s not like there is anything else to do. My project is I’m thinking right now is a pair of shoes that teaches you how to walk.

    What these shoes could do is have 2 things (maybe more): have a pedometer so it counts your steps (the FitBit is a good benefit benchmark of how there is I current trend on how many steps you take)

    & an NFC which linkes to an app on your phone, reading your progress & it teaches you all the exercises which could link with your phone through the use of NFC.

    This app could teach you all the exercises that will build your muscles in preparation for walking.

    Being in a situation where I’m in the process of learning to walk, & i come from a wearable technology background, this seems like just what I need.

  • Where are my shoes?

    So I can remember that I had some brilliant shoes in my past life , but I can’t find them. They’re there ones;

    & James Bonds curious case of “where are my shoes?” sounds like sounds something Carry Bradshaw would be interested in.

    I don’t know how, but I remembered this collaboration & I got some pieces. It must have made a big impression on me; remembering it’s existence, the articles name & that I owned a pieces from the collection.

  • Romance

    Ok, this post isn’t about romance per se, but about a piece of work you’ll like, which is called “Romance”

    This is definitely an interesting collaboration, the work of Chris Craymer & a season by Mulberry.

    Me & my career we’re having a conversation & the subject of romance was touched. I don’t know why but I remembered this Chris Craymer project called “romance “ & I remembered I really liked it; it’s so humerus, but still witty.

    So to promote this collaboration, Mulberry used a lot of diversity in terms of models. it’s a good example of fashion expanding its horizons, making its brand more diverse.

    Just an example is that Tommy Hilfiger doing a collection for disabled people, you should check it out, it’s called “Adaptive”.

    On that subject a billion people globally that’s about 15% of the population are disabled in one way or another, so fashion should be the diversity rail laser.

    And some of the most common aspects of fashion design are inaccessible to people with certain disabilities.

    In this time of this collection, more brands have focussed on the issue of diversity. Even down to the small details like bigger zippers on zippers for hands that shake.

    Amongst my galactic leggings, I have mainly what I call my Mucha leggings, my mermaid leggings & my a couple of galactic leggings.

  • Fashion

    For someone who’s in the fashion industry it’s I tonic that I have a condition where I try to record everything.

    Hopefully it’ll make me unique.

    Fortunately, the fashion industry is visually focused so it doesn’t matter if I’m monotonous, just as long as I keep on producing things with the novelty appeal.
