  • Lord of War#1

I watched this film on Amazon Prime a while ago & wasn’t aware that it was a rental, I was very reluctant to pay money to see it again.

The following facts were caught in the first few minutes, but they really spoke to me & caught my interest.

Maybe I’ll do a more in depth, & review in the future.

“There are over 5500000 firearms in worldwide circulation. That’s 1 firearm for every 12 people on the planet.

But what do we do with the other 11?

There are more gun shops in America than McDonald’s”

  • 10/6- Coffee

A way to look at this is that the original Leuty & the reformed Leuty both love coffee. It’s certainly going to be the drink that the new Leuty will use to get back in touch with the original Leuty.

So quite recently the new Leuty had a very interesting reaction to an espresso. It made me so happy, really made me appreciate why it can be considered a drug.

  • 7/6- Inspiration

I was watching this Louis Thorough thing about people with TBIs & I got about half way through, & it made me feel so hopeless

    I felt depressed that I was in a situation which just seems endless, but watching this really gave me hope, & I hope it will do the same for you;

I complained to a friend about how I felt so hopeless & stuck,& he sent me that YouTube video while really gave me hope. I’m in a really shit situation now but I have just got to believe that ones brain can really be unstoppable.

  • 7/6- Coke

A while back, coke experimented with their recipe & branded their new stock as ‘new coke’. It didn’t make as big an impact as the owners thought though.

Although everyone preferred the old recipe to new coke, they couldn’t call what the people preferred as ‘old coke’ mostly because it’s connotations. Coke has built a reputation which you can’t just buy.

Instead of branding it as ‘old Coke’ they branded it as original coke.

I, myself, love Diet Coke. I guess we all have our vices. I, like coke, am reinventing myself. I can never be the old Leuty, & she is desperately trying to get out. The new Leuty will be as good, if not better. The same Leuty is in there, somewhere. Do what coke did & make the new Leuty into an original Leuty.

  • 8/6 – Cold Showers

On most days I have one shower in the morning & one before bed. I normally like my shower at the hottest temperature it will go, but thinking about it more, what do we want showers to do to us anyway? Obviously make us clean, but for the morning ones to wake us up.

This morning I put my shower on the lowest it would go & wow did it wake me up! Certainly a shock to the system.

It kind of blends the physical & mental parts of your brain. Physically the cold shower made me feel a shock to my system, very uncomfortable. Mentally my brain is trying to stop my body being cold.

I guess it’s a good fight or flight response.

Since my cold morning shower, it made me much more aware of my goings on. Mentally more sensitive & more perceptive & it really made me more focussed.

  • 4/6- My Brain

I spoke to my speech & language therapist, who shed light on what happened to my brain, I knew little to nothing about my severe traumatic brain injury.
I had a diffused amoxyl injury. My intervertebral & ventricular haemorrhages, which caused some damage to my brain.

To get very technical my skull (particularly the C7 spinous process tip) fractured. Bleeds caused damage to my optical nerve so i guess that’s why I’m blind in 1 eye.

There were many cuts all over my body, so all of them had to heal, but the body cuts mend a lot quicker than brain ones do.

  • 2/6- David Lynch

“Within your own self is a treasury… an ocean of pure bliss, consciousness, intelligence, creativity, love”

  • 2/6 – Blogging

I think that blogging is my way of logging my discoveries.

It can hopefully help others in my situation, who had a brain injury. It is really true that I need to stop comparing the old Leuty who I thought was more clever, pretty & social, stop trying to recreate that, & create a better, new version of me!

Stop trying so hard to regain what I once excelled at before & create a new super Leuty. That sounds like a super hero though.

I’ve always been very determined, I should stop trying to be “better” & be satisfied with what is happening now.

  • 1/6 – My Beautiful Broken Brain

I watched this brilliant documentary which really hit home. It was about a woman who had a strong resemblance to exactly what I’m going though, expanding about her long recovery experience.

Lotje is kind of like Leuty!

She had a stroke though, whereas I had a traumatic brain injury (both brain damage). Another new normal I have to relearn (or remaster) is my diabetes.

I guess my way of dealing with my brain injury is writing this blog. (The film was recommended to by a friend, allowed Ezz) & from how he described it, it sounded just like my story.

She says this which is how I feel “I’m obsessed with recording everything but unable to remember anything” . I guess that’s what I’m trying to do with my blog; record everything I’m going through, because it’s a way to get out of isolation.

It does have a happy ending, the success of the film shows her determination & perseverance can help you achieve your goals .

It’s really interesting & good news! It’s on Netflix so check it out now.

One good thing is it’s time, content & platform. A film telling a true story about someone who has a brain injury. It has been let on Netflix at a time when the whole world is addicted to Netflix. I, too, find myself often blogging about some film, & saying that it’s convenient for my readers cause it’s on Netflix, so it’s a perfect combination.

    Bluntly, watch it

  • 29/5- Into the Wild

I just watched the film with the above title & it really made a big impact on me. Nothing really happened in it, it was just someone returning back to nature.

It comments on now have became completely addicted to technology. Me being a brilliant example. The line between technology & society has become ever so fine.

It was a true story too. I guess it just shows how one person can really make a big difference if they have the desire too. He was revolting against capitalism. How each & everyone of us have become addicted to the thing you’re probably looking @ right now (I’m talking about your mobile)

So this is my ironic but is on Netflix. Watch it, it may make as big an impact on you as it did me.
