  • Chocolate

    Taken from “Charlie & the chocolate factory (which is on Netflix) but I love facts, so I researched it further.

    Chocolate containers a substance in it which triggers releases endorphans which governs a feeling of falling in love.

    I think it’s a way to promote chocolate (not that it needs promoting) but it’s a great fact about chocolate. Chocolate releases something called phenylethylamine: phenylethylamine encourages a chemical in your brain which is produced when you fall in love, & when you eat chocolate it mimics the feeling of falling in love. There is an anino acid called tryptophan which is present in chocolate, & it encourages the production of serotonin too.

    It’s been so long that since I had chocolate, being diabetic, but I still love it. I can remember it’s texture, taste, & I wasn’t aware it actually encourages dopamine in your brain. Who knew chocolate change your brain to make you happier. The last chocolate I ate was a box of chocolates from a mystery valentines. I thoroughly enjoyed it but it’s still a mystery who it’s from. I would thank him if I knew who it was.

  • Remembering

    There’s not really a method of how I remember things, they just seem to come to me. I just can’t explain how, I tend to write rhings down, then research the thought further. I have become obsessed with recording things down.

    I guess that’s what I am doing with this blog, to digitally document everything, & to note what I’m thinking or doing, I guess it’s for the future Leuty.

    So for example I heard a song earlier, I knew the lyrics & the tune, but not what the song was called. So I typed in the lyrics which I knew, into google & I got my answer. For your information (& for future Leuty’s information) the song was James Brown, “it’s a man’s world”.

  • Around the World

    So I try to learn something new every day, what i learned a while ago but stuck with me, probably because it was a fun fact.

    The song around the world by Daft Punk says “around the world” a total of 144 times!

    So that brings me to the two types of memory we have; so it’s episodic & semantic memories. The semantic memory is it tends to be facts, I guess more like facts, then episodic memory is how you feel about something. I guess it comes from the word “episode” because, what I believe, an episodic memory is remembering how someone felt, looked like, sounded like I guess to a less extent how it tasted & smelled.

  • Instagram

    I’m trying to broaden my horizons & do more work multi-channel wise, so to do that I hope you’ll follow my Instagram account, my hands is;

  • Turmeric

    It’s got a colour which is very bright but it has a lot of health benefits too. It even speeds up your metabolism. Turmeric has a compound in it called “curcumin” which has a protein in it which reduces inflammation, a lot of which are ones which cause problems in the lungs. This protein reduces pain reducer too.

    It’s a curcuma longa rhizome which is part of the ginger family. It’s had many hypes through history.

    Historically, it was used to temper inflammation, treat liver and digestive illnesses, and improve wound healing.Today, turmeric is known for being one of the most antioxidant-rich foods, crucial for good metabolic health because the root compounds help inhibit inflammation and may better control blood sugar.

    I’m going to incorporate turmeric more into my food.

  • Mums

    As much as we love them I think everyone has a complex relationship with their mum. I think it’s very true that we all love/hate them. Emphasis on the slash.

    What is aling me at the moment is my mum doesn’t understand that I’m in a position where my brain is trying to play catch up with my body. The body & the brain are in 2 different time zones, & my brain age is moving very fast. She keeps on saying how I’m always grumpy, but I disagree, & I can always complain about her in my blog, she’s a technophobe so she’ll be none the wiser.

    My blog is how I see it as my therapy, it’s where I can denote all my thoughts & feelings. I can have a good documentation of. All my doings & how I felt, if I want a reminder. & it’s actually helping my career, I believe. Because I want to be an advocate for brain injury victims. So doing my blog, I perceive it as my therapist, it helps me offload my emotions.

    I know that the title of this post was “mums”& I’ve barely talked about my mum, I think that I got my point across though, to concentrate, I love/hate my mum.

  • Black Milk

    I call them my “galactic leggings” (theyre called “GALAXY AMETHYST HW LEGGINGS”)but I really do love this brand, & you can check them out too. Their website is;

    Leggings

    Amongst my galactic leggings, I have mainly what I call my Mucha leggings, my mermaid leggings & my a couple of galactic leggings.

  • Food

    I’ve watched this episode of Human, it’s the first season & the episode is called “Fuel. This episode talks about how our bodies react to different foods.

    It starts off talking about glucose. I know (& I bet any other diabetics) know how much glucose affects your energy. The program introduces insulin & says how it works. Insulin carries the glucose to the organs in your body. They use the analogy that cells have doors, & what insulin does is that it opens those doors. Athletes’ cells are 3x more sensitive to insulin. I am type 1 diabetic, so I know a lot about insulin and glucose. Insulin is what I have to inject into my body every day. What I really love is that now I can use my phone to scan my libre.

    Glucose is what (I thoroughly recommend) my freestyle libre checks, you can check it out here https ://www.freestylelibre.co.uk/libre/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMItL-X5obK8QIVSrDtCh0moQxZEAAYASAAEgKmmfD_BwE

    Back to more about this program. When the body needs energy, the storage is the liver. It gets the energy it needs from the liver. When the energy in the liver has run low, it goes to the last resort & uses fat.

    What happens is, when the glucose is consumed, it’s sent to the liver & there, it creates an acid, called keytones. When glucose levels drop, both adrenaline & cortisol levels rise. More about keytonescc Co: I actually went into ketoacidosis, I talk about it more in my essay which you can find here:

    https://juniperunltd.com/blogs/community/adapting-to-the-new?utm_source=Engaged%20Juniper&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=6.9%20Adapting%20To%20The%20New&_ke=eyJrbF9jb21wYW55X2lkIjogIlQySFJRNCIsICJrbF9lbWFpbCI6ICJkYW5pZWwuYi5nb2xkZW5AZ21haWwuY29tIn0%3D

    The places in your brain that are stimulated when we’re hungry are the ones which tell our brain to eat. I guess that’s biological proof for hangry, because your brain releases the anger hormone when you’re hungry.

  • Stages of Grief

    With the loss of a limb it’s kind of like you are morning a loved one so go through the 7 stages of grief, which are ;

    Shock, denial, anger/rage, bargaining, depression, testing, & finally acceptence.

    I think I’m in denial right now, & I have rage to come. Im feeling very impatient, wanting things done 5 minutes ago. Maybe that’s me reaching anger. I just need to start swearing now.

    It’s a long route I’m afraid. One I’ll have to take though. I feel like I’ve already done some stages though. They seem so fucking vague. I kind of feel like king George in the kings speach, when he swears to prove he doesn’t stutter when he’s swearing, so when that he mind,

    Fuck

    Fuck

    Fuck

    Shit

    Shit

  • Falling In Love Again

    One good thing about this brain injury is I get to discover things the original Leuty knows she loved.

    Things that I know I love, I get to revisit again, just a little different.

    Like books, films, music, food, drink, sports, the list goes on & on.

    One thing I’m experiencing things right now, I get to feel like I’m seeing it for the first time, is being able to discover my town as a tourist.

    It’s very fortunate that I have a lot of foreign careers, so I get to experience this city as a tourist, & with them as a friend.

    I really enjoy being able to revisit a lot of culture the original Leuty seems to like. It’s very fortunate that I kept a lot of CDs, DVDs & books, which has meant I can revisit them, & probably fall in love with them again, just in a different way.
