Blog

  • How it happened

I’ve already done a post on this, but it’s a good introduction to my blog & pretty important to me. So here we go…

Why I started this blog was to tell my story & to help others in my situation… or make more people aware of how brain injury affects one’s life. So this is how I got my brain injury & details about the what specific bits of my brain were broken ….

I had a TBI (traumatic brain injury) when I fell off a motorbike in Vietnam & hit my head.

As I fell from the motorbike, I would have hit my head at such speed my brain bounced around my skull. Like it’s been shaken dramatically outside, so effectively effects the inside of the scull.

My brain rapidly shifted inside my scull, causing more damage to several areas. It isn’t known what the Glasgow coma scale I was, but they think around 3… or 2… or 1….

GCS is how impaired someone’s consciousness is. It ranges from 1-15, where 1 is pretty much dead. It is rated on 3 aspects revolving around responsiveness: whether the patient can open their eyes, how well their motor skills are (this maybe testing them with pain) & visual responsiveness.

This is what medically happened to me (if you’re in the medical profession, I hope you’re impressed):

There was a diffused amoxyl injury. Intervertebral& a ventricular bleed. In the scull the c7 spinousg process tip fractured. Bleeds caused damage to my optical nerve, so I’m blind in my right eye.

Edited, now some years later. When I can see all the grammatical errors…. A beautiful reflection of how life should be; every day, a little bit less bad.

  • Amoxyl injury

I promised that I’d go into further detail about this, so I am…

This is like when you’re told not to shake babies, it causes your brain to rapidly shifts inside your brain causing, damaging to multiple areas.

When my head was hit, the brain moved slower than my scull. It ricochets inside the skull causing damage

As i fell from the motorbike I hit my head at such speed , my brain was bounced around inside the scull.

I’ll try to get some electroencephalograph (EEG) pictures

  • Multiple personality

With my brain injury, I really do think like I have a multiple personality. I think this in there is the “original Leuty” & the “new Leuty”.

    Am I the same Leuty?

Very episodical. But it is quite modern, because, with the height of technology we all have our physical self, & our physical self.

  • Question

If you (you, no one else) had to choose one (JUST ONE) word to describe yourself, what would that word be?

  • Student

I am a student of business & management, & I think that is probably entails me to search for trends. So that’s what this blog will turn into.

What career will this degree turn into? I think using the skills of trend seeking & evaluation could lead to being an investor.

I’ve never thought much of this blogs influence, but like social media, it reaches a larger audience than you would expect.

    So, let the journey commence.

  • HIID

That stands for head injury information directory.

I went to this great seminar today & I would like to do some advertising. These people(or groups) were all there. I

I may have already mentioned them or worked with them.

You should check them out cause it’s an interesting thing to delve into & explore. You don’t need to be brain injured to enjoy this journey. I can’t recommend it more. & now I shall commence…

  • Gestalt

There are six principles commonly known associated with gestalt theory: similarity, continuation, closure, proximity, figure/ground, and symmetry & order

Gestalt Theory of the psychology of learning states that every stimulus in learning is perceived by humans in its most simple form, also known as the Law of Simplicity.

Gestalt therapy focuses mon the present. It allows discovering what immediate thoughts, feelings, or behavior may make them feel anxious.

  • Gyms

The word “gymnasium” comes from “γυμναστήριο” or “gymnastírio” which literally translated to “school for naked exercise” because back then, those who were considered athletes did so in the nude. Fashion has taken a strange turn, closing has always been a status symbol. Now the most affluent are showing that they’re so wealthy, they don’t have to spend time, or money, on working out what to wear.

  • Forcing Myself to Relax

    It’s really difficult!

…. but I never did things because they were easy.

I call when I force myself to relax as “meditation”. I sit in silence & turn off my phone & laptop. We live in a world with an information overload & mobiles & laptops are guilty parties.

What I do when I try to relax (shut up, YOUR TRYING TO RELAX) is try & focus on my plans for the near future. I practice synesthesia. And I try focusing on the senses I neglect, a good example is smell.
