  • Recipe 1

The other residents have parties, & always have snacks. They don’t seem to appreciate that these snacks are full of carbs. So I can’t partake. This recipe is me throwing a party with a chocolate cake which will please them, being non-diabetic. It’s delicious & entirely sugar free.

Bake in the oven for 25minutes at 180oc.

    110g self raising flour

110g sweetener (the brand Splenda is quite common)

    90g cocoa powder

    1 tablespoon baking powder

    2 tablespoons baking soda

    Pinch of salt

    2 eggs

1 curl of strong coffee (I have a nespresso machine so used the big portion)

    55ml oil

I bitzed the recipe in my magi mix so it mixed well, then poured the mix into a baking tin. I baked it then made the icing which is also entirely sugar free. But you will have to wait for my next post for that recipe.

  • Diabetes

If you didn’t already, I’m type 1 diabetic. This means my body doesn’t produce insulin. Insulin is a hormone which takes sugar out of your blood & turns it into Emery.

There are 2 types of diabetes, very creatively named; type 1(you tend to develop it as a child,& are born with a high chance of developing it) & type 2(you develop it in later life, because you’ve overworked your pancreas in your younger years).

Im not in America, but in the US population overall, they established for 2018 there was: 34.2 million people of all ages—or 10.5% of the US population who had some form of diabetes.

So I have to balance my foot intake with my insulin (which I inject)

If you exercise, it effects your BG (blood glucose) because it uses up energy. My diabetes determines the ratio of how much insulin I need for what foods & drink, & when.

diabetics are hyper sensitive about their BG. It’s common, you probably know one.

As there’s such a big proportion of diabetics, I will share in future posts some diabetic friendly recipes which I like, that are good even if you’re not diabetic.

  • Watch This

    https://youtu.be/YsE2OzaE-8A

It’s quite long but you should watch it.

It’ll give you an idea of what I’m going through. It’s very informative too it says he lost his sense or humour but that definitely didn’t happen to me.

This video is very inspiring, it really made me imagine my future isn’t going to be so difficult.

I’m on yeah 2, I don’t think I can do another 5 years of this. I think I have the persistence.

  • E Pluribus Unum

I was cleaning out my room, & I found this ring (pictures below)

The ring says “E pluribus unum”. I have no idea how I got it, as with most of my things, but doing a bit of research it has made me love it more.

E pluribus unum is Latin, & it means “1 of many”. You may have heard it as the motto us the US. I don’t know where this piece of jewellery comes from, but the message is cool, & very inspiring.

I imagine this ring may mean that the one finger you wear it is on, there are many other fingers in the hand.

There are a LOT of noodles

    Noodles

    Yet nore noodles
  • Advent

I’m sure everyone is going excited about Christmas…. I am.

One of the things every child (& some adults) does is have an advent calendar. Supermarkets are overrun with chocolate advent calendars, with each day a Christmas themed chocolate shape, but I was never one to follow what everyone does, & neither were my parents. So this year,

(Not to mention I can’t remember & the one before I was in a coma)

my mum has given me this advent calendar(see picture). It has a pocket for each day, where you fill each pocket with whatever you want. I think it’s so personalised.

This year my mum has put a chocolate (of course) & a lottery ticket in each pocket. So not only is there a delicious treat, but there’s a full activity too.

  • Gig

I went to a gig recently. A very strange experience. The gig was Idlewild, 25 years anniversary.

You know you’re getting old though, when you’re scared things will hurt your ears.

Me with my 2 friends & Idlewild rocking it out in the background.

I say “weird” because somehow I knew most of the lyrics, & was singing along.

It was such an odd experience; music I love (I’d thoroughly recommend you check them out their tunes) in a setting where, as a child I say that Nutcracker valet. but it was so cool to see a rock concert in that setting.

It’s real strange, let hits home that it their on 25th anniversary. Oh God, I’m getting old. I was in a coma for a long time, so maybe I make up for it in life experience.

Remember! Check out Idlewild songs, maybe on Spotify…. you’ll probably like it.

  • Linearisation

I was very excited because i found out someone I know (let’s call him Rod) was a professional librarian, & one of my friends (let’s call them Isla) is doing a PHD in how the visitors’ books at Innerpeffray Library, & how it heritage centre & it’s now a tourist attraction.

So I wanted Rod to meet Isla, I linked the 2 as they both seem to love books

This is an incredibly long introduction to an unrelated story, but in text conversation I predictive typed “Linearisation” when trying to type “librarian” & that caught my interest. I found this very amusing.

    So here’s what I found out about linearisation. ;

linearization is the finding of the linear approximation of a function. I have done some research into it but found parts confusing & I won’t expect you to make sense of it. It goes into saying things about Taylor expansion around the point of interest

  • Learning to walk, in high heels

As high heels were a big part of my old self, I found a fabulous collection of high heals in my old bedroom. That collection is my goal.

I chose the grammar in the title very particularly; for most people the learn to walk in high heals, but for me, I have to learn how to walk, but adding the heals in at the start of the process.

As I’m in a situation where I can’t walk, I’m learning to walk again.

I don’t want to run, I don’t want to walk fast, just beautifully. So it is really quality over quantity.

  • Chernobyl

What most people think of when Chernobyl is mentioned, is most likely to be the nuclear disaster that happened in 1986. The Chernobyl power plant is quite near the city of Pripyal, which is kind of close to Ukrainian.

Chernobyl is considered the most catastrophic nuclear disaster in both the monetary price & the amount of deaths & people’s health that were effected.

In terms of how big this disaster was, it was rated the maximum, 7, on the International Nuclear Event Scales.

Having a disaster so big, being nuclear, had a dire effect on how Chernobyl was in terms of how globally sound it was.

But how Chernobyl looks now, is that even though there was a nuclear disaster, natural has shown its dominance. There is more weeds overgrown. As plants seem to help in terms of global warming too, engulfing CO2 & producing oxygen, the lockdown has meant that there’s a decrease of the popularity of cars. So maybe we’re in store for a plant-take over.
